A'S Game - Come join the fun!

Sunday Sept 7th at 1:05pm A's baseball game "CrossFit Day" at the stadium.
Tickets $22
WOD before the game that we get to watch including Neal Maddox, Wes Piatt, Gabe Subry, Margaux Alvarez, Chyna Cho, Ben Alderman, and our own Miranda Oldroyd, and Camille Leblanc. The wod will start at 10am.
If our gym has one of top 20 most people attending, we get to pick a person to compete in the wod with them.
Redwood City and Mtn View already have over 40 people signed up amongst the two gyms.
Money must be collected by noon THIS FRIDAY.

COACHES FAVOURITE WORKOUTS

You got a favourite workout? I'm sure you do, and I bet they are all really different! That is the beauty of CrossFit, some like it short and heavy, some like it long and light........

* We will be showcasing our coaches favourite workouts over the next few weeks, you should give them a try some time!

My favorite was Open workout 13.1, because the year before during 12.2, I couldn't get one snatch at 165. And this year I got 9. The improvement was very gratifying

40 Burpees
75 pound Snatch, 30 reps
30 Burpees
135 pound Snatch, 30 reps
20 Burpees
165 pound Snatch, 30 reps
10 burpees
210 pound Snatch, as many reps as possible - As far as possible in 17min

My favorite workout of all time was Nasty Girls.  This was the first CrossFit video I ever watched.  I privately thought "someday".  This goal had a long journey because my starting max deadlift was 135.  This July, after 5 years with CrossFit, I finished Nasty Girls in 14:05.  

50 squats, 7 muscle ups, 10 hang power cleans (135) - 3 rounds

My favorite workout experience, not necessarily workout per se, was a team workout of Regionals 2012; each person in the team completed: 1000m Row, 50 Pistols, 15 Hang Cleans (225/135). 
I loved this workout because it combined something I am weak at (rowing) with two things that I enjoy (pistols & cleans). I also loved the environment of that day: teams cheering for their participants, sweltering sun, scorching hot finish mat that burned your skin if you sat or laid down on it when you were done. Ending with the (at that time) heavy 225/135 hang clean was an epic way to finish the workout.
