Athlete Recognition MV!

Nadine Aoun

Nadine is always a joy to have in class she is a regular everydayer no matter what the wod is. Over the last few weeks she has made some major improvements in her Olympic lifts. It's cool to watch atheletes grow like that over a small period of time. She is someone who really wants to learn and get better. I'm proud to have her as a member at Mountain View she always brings the fun and intensity.

When did you join CrossFit NorCal (MV)?

October 2012

Why did you join CrossFit?

I got jealous of my husband who was getting great results and who kept talking me out of it for a while but eventually gave up. Now even the kids joined the Crossfit kids class at the San Jose gym, which added another subject for them to argue over (who got more rounds or reps, or who cheated :)

What changes in your health, physique and overall performance have you seen since starting CrossFit?

I feel stronger and suprisingly more flexible. It helped me  a lot with my swim practice.

What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting CrossFit?  

Leave your ego at the door. Crossfit was and still is the most humbling activity I've ever done.  Also keep in mind that at the end of  the WOD everyone else is gonna be just as exhausted whether they lifted a hundred or twenty pounds.

Favorite CrossFit exercise ?

Chatting with other members while stretching at the end class, haha. I would say thrusters, and after the past weeks of Oly lifting I started liking the snatch.

Favorite activity outside of CrossFit?

Swimming definitely !

Proudest accomplishment at CrossFit?

Getting my double unders back to back and my first handstand.

Favorite place to eat a paleo-ish meal ?

In n' out protein style burger, or chipotle (double chicken salad with extra salsa and Guacamole, no rice or beans)

Something that people would be surprised to know about you?

Made the Lebanese Olympic swim team in 1988, but decided not to take part for personal reasons.

What/who inspires you the most ?

The badass crew from the 9 a.m Elite class in Mountain View :)
