Today is going to be a fun day in the gym. Today, after a nice long strength cycle, focused on building strength and solid movement consistency, you get to retest your one rep max clean and jerk!
Come in focused and ready to see how far you have come since we started this cycle. It’s a great indicator to see where you are now, where you still would like to go, and how much your work has paid off.
Keep in mind, though, that if you don’t set an awesome PR today, that DOES NOT mean you have not come a long way. There are so many factors that go into setting new personal records, like sleep, nutrition, stress etc. The focus today should, of course, be to improve, but don’t be too hard on yourself. Come in, have fun, and lift heavy!
In this video from CrossFit, Natalie Burgener, daughter-in-law of the famous Coach Mike Burgener, multiple-time American record-holder, four-time national weightlifting champion (2005–2008), and resident athlete of the U.S. Olympic Training Center, spends some time coaching the clean and jerk. Take a couple minutes to watch to help prep your mind and body for a new PR in the gym!
