How did you find CrossFit and what made you stick with it?

I found it through my old High School teachers. What made me stay was the competition and the community. I Love it.

What drives you to compete? 

I have always been competitive in everything that I do. I have played tons of sports over my lifetime and expressing myself physically in competition is one of my favorite things to do. 

What is your favorite all out – go for it cheat meal?

A few slices of Pizza from pleasure point Pizza in Santa Cruz and a pint of mint chip hagen dazz ice cream mixed up with some milk.

If you were to sum up your team in a few words, how would you describe them?

A crew of jerks and snatches who have all the skills and abilities a team could want. 

What do you want to see come up at Regionals?

Fran and anything in that time domain

What are you secretly (or maybe not so secretly) hoping does NOT come up at Regionals?

Heavy deadlifts for reps

Do you have a lucky item of clothing that you always compete with?

I do not but i do have a lucky "no underwear" policy i always compete with.

 

WORKOUT FOR WEDNESDAY

Nukes

U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Matthew "Nukes" Manoukian, 29, of Los Altos Hills, Calif., assigned to the 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion, based in Camp Pendleton, Calif., died Aug. 10, 2012, in Sangin District, Afghanistan, after being shot by an Afghan policeman. He is survived by his parents, Socrates Peter and Patricia Manoukian, and his brothers, Mike and Marty Manoukian.

8 minutes to complete:

1-mile run

deadlifts, max reps (315/225)

Then, 10 minutes to complete:

1-mile run

Power cleans, max reps (225/155)

Then, 12 minutes to complete:

1-mile run

Overhead squats, max reps (135/95)

Do not rest between rounds.

* Scale load and running distance.
