To tape or not to tape?
When is it appropriate to tape your hands? Ideally never. Your hands are made to be used so when ever possible do just that. However, as most of you know, the demands of CrossFit can sometimes exceed the amount of 'normal' repetitive hand use (no, not that kind!) and some people suffer more from tearing than others. This doesn't mean that when ever you see the word pullup you reach for your rock tape and proceed to cover yourself in it from head to toe! Figure out what your 'no-tape' limit is for a workout and when ever a workout comes up that goes beyond that, be prepared and tape your hands. Having bloody, ripped skin is never cool and just plain annoying when it comes to every day life tasks like showering!
The key to ensuring your hands don't rip in the first place is to maintain your rough callousy hands by shaving them down regularly. Use a good old razor or your implement of choice to keep them down.
