The Ring Row
When is the last time you spent quality time working on your ring row? We so often think of the ring row as only a scale option if someone cannot do a pull up. It is important to understand how beneficial this movement actually is for CrossFitters of ALL ability levels. It is one of the most easily scalable movements (both up and down).
The ring row builds strength to help you get a pull up if you don’t have one, but there is also so much that this movement can improve for those athletes who do have pull ups. It is important that everyone utilizes the ring row as a tool to improve. The beauty of CrossFit is that there is ALWAYS something to improve upon, no matter how good we might get. Even Rich Froning and Jason Khalipa spend HOURS every day working on improving. What other sport exists where people are setting new PRs even 8, 10, 12 years later?
It’s time to start thinking of the ring row as a tool to continue improving and working on skills that transfer into so many other movements we do in the gym (think pull up, ring row, even the Olympic lifts which require so much pull strength). The ring rowis so much more than just a scale option.
